For 2017 the Acura MDX luxury SUV is getting bold new styling, additional features and an available Sport Hybrid Super Handling-All Wheel Drive powertrain. The 2017 MDX will also be the first luxury SUV in its class to offer standard safety and driver-assist technology like automatic emergency braking with the AcuraWatch suite of safety features.
The 2017 MDX is the first Acura vehicle to showcase the new face of the brand, with a distinctive diamond pentagon grille. The hood, front fascia and front fenders have been restyled to integrate with the new grille, and restyled Jewel Eye headlights enhance the sporty look of the MDX.
Acura’s innovated three-motor Sport Hybrid SH-AWD powertrain is already in use in the Acura NSX supercar and RLX luxury sedan, and is a perfect fit for the MDX. A 3.0-liter V6 engine with Variable Cylinder Management is mated to a 7-sped dual clutch transmission with an integrated electric motor. In the back, two electric motors provide power for the rear wheels.
Compared to the non-hybrid MDX, the MDX Sport Hybrid has 35 more horsepower and is expected to have a 7-mpg city fuel economy improvement in EPA tests. Available Technology and Advance packages add a new Active Sport Suspension system to the MDX, with up to four selectable drive modes, including the Sport Hybrid exclusive Sport+ mode.
Additional new standard features for the 2017 Acura MDX include an Electric Parking Brake, Auto High Beam headlights, Sirius XM Radio 2.0 and four 2.5-amp USB charging ports. Optional features include Bi-Directional Keyless Remote Engine Start, two new 20-inch wheels options, a Surround-View Camera system and genuine Olive Ash Burl or Black Limba wood interior trim.
